Who said we could have only one career a life? to anyone who is passionate and developed specialty in their jobs, you have my utmost respect. But we can't deny it, sometimes career changes require more courage.
Windy Chien wrote in Permission, whether it's moving from her 14 year job at Aquarius Music to Apple, or to move from her 8 year job at Apple to starting her own artist studio, she followed her dreams. With such major shifts, wasn't she scared?
I believe she went through a lot of anxiety along the way, but what I love about the whole story is her belief. "I Give Myself Permission. No one is going to give you permission; you have to give it to yourself." What a honest and courageous statement.
Many, myself included, are looking to establish something of their own. It doesn't matter if you're about to start a company, take a break, study abroad, travel the world, take care of your family, or leave your job, making up your mind between charging ahead full force or resting for a while takes courage. There will be people questioning you, a lot of them (I've been there), or people who care too much that in turn creating unnecessary stress for you. But really, believe in what Windy said, only you can give yourself permission. Only you know what is your inner most desire, what your physical and spiritual being need. Don't allow standard path, bandwagon effect, social stratosphere, and comfort zone limit you.
Please tell yourself you can, you can go that direction, as long as you don't hurt yourself, just march ahead. Life is made of surprise turns and choices, but we all get to the end anyways. Be kind to yourself, give yourself permission.
